March recap!
Hey Kiddo,
I’m trying to catch up. We’re already through March. So here’s the month’s recap:
Mudpuppy Strike Out #
We made our way out, again, to Oxford Mills– with considerably more kids this year. If any of kids, enthusiasm, or excitement would translate into mudpuppies, we’d have seen oodles of mudpuppies. Unfortunately, we waited a little long in the season. Even thought the rain held off, the melt didn’t, and the weir was opened up, and flow blasted many of the mudpuppies down the river.
One of the conservation officers spoke to the kids about a crayfish they found in the river– an invasive rusty crayfish. We did get to hear about some of the master’s projects that are being done by some of the students. It was uncanny seeing the McDonalds in Renfrew get overrun by all the families from Sandy Hill.
The consensus that emerged seemed to be «well, this is more fun than what we usually do on Friday night». With sticks there was lost of poking the ice and getting closer to the river than was sensible. Imagine how much fun we’ll all have next time when there are mudpuppies!
Victoire Game #
Sometime after that you and I were off to Montreal to attend a Victoire game with Adam and Naomi. Oma and Gill joined for fun as well. Initially, you and Naomi sat with Adam and I and Oma and Gill were in a different section. And the Victoire were winning! And then you and Naomi got the idea to start trading for Gill and Oma. By the end of the game, Adam and I had both been relegated away and you two were sitting with Gill and Oma. And the Victoire were no longer winning– they lost in overtime. One of the few lost at Place Bell this season.
A lady on the way up on the metro, decked out in Victoire gear, became very jealous of your and your Marie-Philip Poulin signed jersey. Apparently MPP isn’t signing as many these days.
Skiing #
As the season ran out, we tried to get as much of it in as possible. This included skiing at Camp Fortune. Under the careful supervision of Zach, Annie & Evie’s dad, you and the girls got to going down Heggtveit– Camp Fortune’s double black diamond. Your parent’s might not ever get there.
You guys also had tons of fun, for some reason, playing in the snowbanks behind the parking lot.
Great month kiddo, with all our love, Mum & Dad
