First Visit to Paris

Paris Heatwave #

Hey Kiddo,

We’ve landed in Paris during one of their worst heat waves on record! Our apartment is in Montmartre on the sixth floor of a building that has neither an elevator nor air conditioning. It is HOT!

But Paris is Paris– its is an amazong city. Many of the sites and places are familiar from the last time mum and I were here. We’ve made our way around quite a bit.

In Montmartre we made it over to the Sacre Coeur Cathedral and looked out over Paris. We visited the Musee D’Orsay where I got to try out an AI application-shortcut that I built for my iPhone– you snap a picture of an interesting painting, and the phone queues up an art history blurb about the history of the piece that plays on one’s earbuds. I was quite pleased with myself about this one.

There were a lot of really neat impressionist (and post impressionist) paintings– Monet, Van Gogh, and Sisley. The one that stuck with me was Rodin’s Gates of Hell, which has The Thinker, and William Bouguereau’s Dante et Virgil.

With the rest of our day, fading as we were from jet lag and sweating buckets, we popped by Notre Dame Cathedral to inspect the restoration, made it out to see the Eifel Tower and the Champs de Mars.

Then we were off on and air conditioned TGV for the south of France.

Glad we were able to show you Paris. You’re doing great kiddo, keep it up, with all our love, Mum & Dad
